Techniques

I have been formally trained at The Swedish Institute of New York, located in Manhattan. The school teaches the five strokes of Swedish Massage:

Effleurage:long, slow strokes with various pressure
Petrissage:alternating strokes of various speed and pressure
Friction:intense and to a specific location
Vibration:to an area or areas
Tapotement:various forms of tapping

Reiki, Therapuetic Touch, Zero Balancing and other forms of "energy" work can be performed through clothing.

Medical and/or Sports massage is injury specific. Although a physician's prescription is not necessary, it is beneficial in the treatment process.

Some techniques that I incorporate are range of motion, active and passive stretching, Myotherapy, proprio-neuromuscular facillitaion, side-lying positions, seated and gravity encouraged extremity release. Compression and traction treatment is also utilized.

My techniques vary for each massage. You never feel exactly the same each day and your massage should reflect that. I invite you to try out my work that can only be described as "Myrna Massage".
